Today, the Commissioner Adv. Rory Voller will be chairing the 15th meeting of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Heads of Intellectual Property Offices (HIPO). Heads of Intellectual property offices of BRICS countries meet biannually to discuss BRICS cooperation in the field of Intellectual Property Rights.
As an IP regulator in South Africa, CIPC participates in the BRICS IP group, represented by the CIPC Commissioner and other senior managers in IP. The IP workstream focuses on leveraging the BRICS HIPO strategic partnerships to advance IP policy goals; harmonising the IP environment, and supporting the overall BRICS objectives.<\/p>\n
Part of the engagements at these meetings is the member countries\u2019 exchange of best practices, measures and information on maximizing the use of digital technologies in processing of the IP applications.<\/p>\n
